2014 Commemorative will once again have an accessory piece

Red Wing, MN –  For the second time in the RWCS 2014 Commemorative will have an accessory piece.

This premium piece will once again only be purchased by members who pick up their commemorative at the Convention. It can be pre-ordered for $12 and a limited quantity will be available to purchase onsite for $15. We can’t tell you what this accessory piece is because it would give away the identity of the Commemorative itself. Last year the 2013 Commemorative was a stoneware dog and the accessory piece was a dog dish.

The 2014 Commemorative accessory is sort of along those same lines, except it will be fired in the kilns by Red Wing Stoneware. We expect this will be a popular piece and won’t be surprised if the limited quantity onsite sells out, so members are encouraged to order in advance.

Members can order their accessory piece when the register for convention.

Flour Scoop, Ceramastone line

Question:

HI , my name is Corrina just found this really nice red wing flour scoop and was curios of the year and value . Thank you so much Corrina

Answer:

This item is from the Ceramastone line, Red Wing’s final line of dinnerware.  It was made in 1966-1967.  Red Wing brochures refer to this piece as a “Handled Serving Dish”.  This dark brown dish was intended to be used with either the Hearthstone Beige or Heatherstone patterns.  Value is around $25 if it is in excellent, undamaged condition.

3 gallon salt glazed upturned leaf crock, North Star

Question:

Hi,

I picked this 3 gallon leaf salt glaze crock up at an antique shop and wondering if this could be a North Star piece and today’s value. No hairlines, chips (even on handles) or cracks. Does have a slight narrow stain streak on the side.

Thanks! Jay

Answer:

Jay, your 3 gallon salt glazed upturned leaf crock looks to be North Star.  Value would be between $250 & $275.  Al Kohlman
