I recently acquired the attached 12 gal. crock for 70.00 at an estate sale. It does not appear to have any cracks or crazing. It does have 1 small chip-hole that seems to be there from when it was fired. I am wondering how I did on this?

Also I am thinking of purchasing a 4 gal. Ice water crock as pictured and wondered what a fair value would be?

Tim, you did well on the 12 gallon Red Wing Birch leaf crock.  With just a minor air bubble pop, the value is around $150.  The 4 gallon Birch leaf Ice Water in perfect condition  $800 to $1000.  Al Kohlman

Question:

I have a cow and calf figurine and would like to know the value. It is in perfect shape with no damage. It is light brown in color. There are no markings on the piece.  It was given to a red wing employee in 1911. A photo is attached.

Jim, I think you would have paid about $.90 for this Cow & Calf figurine back in 1911.  With the economy being down, these Cow & Calf figurines have went down in there value.  Still today, in perfect condition, $3000 to $4000.  Nice little gem you have there.    Al Kohlman

Tony, this is a Red Wing churn. The lid is not Red Wing though. An unsigned 3 gallon Red Wing lazy 8 target churn in perfect condition is between $300 & $350 without the lid. Al Kohlman

I have what I think is a 4 gallon Red Wing Water Cooler, but it does not say Water Cooler and the spigot hole is on the back side.  It is in perfect condition and has a cobalt 4 on the inside.  So do you think its a water cooler that a mistake was made on or is it something else.  The lid came with it and I would like to know if its a Red Wing lid and what its for. Maybe your opinion on value too.

Answer:

Craig, you have the early Red Wing Water Cooler.  Without the word Water Cooler, it could have been a special order is what I think.  The lid is not a Red Wing lid.  The correct lid would be a button water cooler lid which would have the same type of stripes on it with a molded form of daisy petals surrounding the button handle of the lid.  If your cooler has no damage, I would place the value between $400 & $550.   I realize this is quite a spread, however, your cooler is quite unique which could very well increase its value to the right collector.  Al Kohlman

I am attaching a picture of two preserve/ snuff jars they are both in mint condition have the salt glaze lids and are bottom marked Minnesota stoneware company Red Wing Minnesota I am wondering what the current price range would be for these 1 is a gallon and the other one is a half gallon thanks for your help. Kathie, the 1 gal bottom signed Minnesota with the somewhat deformed top $40.  The 1/2 gal will be in the $50 range today.  Al Kohlman

I think this is Red Wing, the corn decanter, although not marked.  shape A51, and having the stopper is a real bonus, they are hard to find.  value around 3-400 if in great condition.  thanks, steve n rose

I have this gray, stoneware beehive jug (pictured), but I don’t know what is the “generic” name (or type of jug it’s commonly called).  It is 13.5″ high, including the handle.  It has no marks at all, so I don’t know who made it; if you have any idea, I’m willing to listen!  And, of course–any clues as to its value?

Answer:

I have not see this type of jug with two spouts.  With one spout, they call it a Monkey jug.  With this being said, I would still call it a Monkey jug even, with the two spouts.  As far as value goes.  With out advertising or a decoration, I would think $30 to $50 or so.  Al Kohlman
