Beth, you have a Red Wing safety valve jar (canning jar).  Some of them have a pat. date of May 21, 1896 and they were discontinued around 1920.  They came in 1 gal, 1/2 gal and 1 qt sizes.  In perfect condition with lid, hardware and bottom signed, the value is between $75 & $100.  Al Kohlman

Hi, I just returned from a garage sale where I purchased this Red Wing Ko-Rec Feeder.  This is the first time a bought any Red Wing.  The lady said it was from her parents farm where they found it in the barn.  The lady at the sale said they used it for a door stop.  I would like to know more about it and its possible value. 
 
It measures 10″ tall and about 7″ in diameter.  Seems clean and in very good condition except for a chip on the edge of one of the three feet.

Richard, the Red Wing Koc-Rec feeder is a nice piece.  However, it is missing the base and has that small chip on the edge of one of it’s feet.  Collectors like these feeders to be in perfect condition.  With the missing base and small chip the value is between $25 & $30.  Al Kohlman

Question:

I have a stoneware Hruska chicago ill. advertising butter crock that was my grandmas.It measures 8 3/4″ across & 6 3/4″ high.Bold blue lettering & bands as per photos attached. it has one small chip the size of a small finger nail on the bottom of crock & a  small 1/2″ chip on inside of lip, also a 1/2″ pit on back of lip. no other damage , no cracks, beautiful piece. Can  u give me all info you can including value & how to describe this piece? I am looking to probably put this piece up for auction or sale. Richards, Red Wing Hruska & Co butter crock is one of the more decorative butter crocks. It was produced in the late 1920’s to early 30’s.  With the chips, the value is between $1000 & $1500.  Nice piece.  Al Kohlman

I am trying to find the value of two redwing crocks.  One is a 3 gallon with a large wing in excellent condition.  The other is a 4 gallon with wire handles and a small wing, also in very good condition.  Thank you.

A Red Wing 3 gallon crock with a 4 1/2 inch wing would have the same value as a 4 gallon with the 2 7/8 inch wing.  In perfect condition $75 to $80.  Al Kohlman

Shari, you have a Minnesota Stoneware Company 3 gallon salt glazed crock with the rib cage design.  It was produced between the 1880’s to 1895.  With all the staining on the crock, the value would be between $125 & $150 if there are no chips or cracks.  Al Kohlman

While cleaning out my grandparents old house that has been used for storage I claimed all the old stoneware, these 4 being the redwing ones.  The 10 gallon has a crack in the bottom which can be seen  in the picture, the rest are in good shape, aside from being dirty.  I was curious as to their approximate age and value.  Thank you for your time.  Tami

Tami, the first is a Red Wing beater jar,  produced in the 20’s & 30’s.  In perfect condition $75 to $100.

The next is a 4 gallon Red Wing butter churn with a 2 /7/8 inch wing.  Produced between 1936 & 1947. Value in perfect condition and with out a lid.  $150 to $200.

Three gallon Red Wing crock with 4 inch red wing was produced between 1909 & 1930.  Value $50 to $75

10 gallon Red Wing crock with 6 inch wing and cracked.  Produced between 1909 & 1915.  Value $30 to $40.  Hope this helps.   Al Kohlman

Beth, the chips on your Iris pitcher just kills it’s value.  Pitchers are like find china to collectors. They want perfect!  Value with the chips, $20 to $25.  Al Kohlman
