Red Wing 1053

Question:
I would like an approximate value on this vase from my parents’ home in Winona, MN. I know it was purchased at the Red Wing factory sometime in the 1950s. The mark on the bottom is “1053 Red Wing USA” (no wing insignia). The vase has a somewhat matte exterior of dusty pink, interior of off-white. I’d describe the style as an urn, with 2 handles, and a raised foot. It is 8” tall and has an oval opening that is 4½” x 2½”. The exterior condition appears good. There are a couple small chips in the glaze on the underside rim of the foot. The interior glaze on the upper half is worn. There is a hairline crack extending from the rim down 1¾” on the inside (visible in upper right in photo). The crack does not extend through to the outside.

Answer: This one is from 1940, with the damage, value is about 10.00. thanks, steve n rose

Red WIng 1201

Question:
I would like an approximate value on this vase from my parents’ home in Winona, MN. I know it was purchased at the Red Wing factory sometime in the 1950s. The mark on the bottom is "1201 Red Wing USA" (no wing insignia). The vase has a glossy exterior of dusty blue, interior of dusty rose. It is fluted, with 4 lobes (foot is also fluted) and a raised Art Nouveau leaf or palm design on each lobe. It is 8" tall, max diameter of 5", and minimum diameter of indentations of 2 1/4". It appears in almost pristine condition. There are a few minor finish imperfections in the glaze; I don’t know if that indicates it is a factory second.

Answer: Hi, this item is from the mid fourties. A few imperfections from the factory are usually expected, so don’t worry about that. Value is around 40.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
