Question:
I have a 6 gallon elephant ear crock that I purchased at an auction. It has a chip on one handle a couple glaze skips and two small 1/8th size chips, one on the the rim, and one on the bottom. The oval says minnesota stoneware co. red wing minn. in black ink. It also looks to be a hand turned piece . Could you please tell me the history and value of this piece.

5 Gallon Packing/Storage Jar
Question:
Greetings Al, my question is pertaining to the 5 GL S/G Packing/Storage Jar. I added this to my collection today and I think it’s fantastic, need the lid but that will be my next quest. It is not signed so I know the routine about is it or isn’t it RW. Everything about it screams Minnesota to me, the handles are spot on, the Clay color is spot on and the thickness of the rim, etc…. Once again I find myself asking the higher power (You, of course) for your opinion. Any and all information you can provide including value is as always appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge. -Paul

5 Gallon Blue Ribbon Jug
Question:
I am going to an auction this weekend. They have a 4 gallon "blue ribbon" stone jug. I do not have any pictures, but I did look this up on ebay. Could only find one item. It was a 3 gallon crock. It had the number 3 made fancy like a red wing 3 gallon crock, but had a blue ribbon below it. You might look it up and see it for yourself. I have seen red wing crocks with that fancy number 3 on them, but never have I seen a blue ribbon below it. Is this a special kind of red wing crock or just an off brand?? I was just wondering if this could be a red wing crock?? Thank you for you time and have a nice day.

Hamm’s Bear Bank
Question:
The attached photo is of a Hamm’s Bear bank, which was given to me by Richard Gillmer, back in 1967 and I have had it ever since. I’m looking for more information on it, like how many were made, what is it worth, and also how I can contact Carol Betcher who was recently featured in a Hamm’s newsletter. My mother is Joy Nygaard, who was Richard’s secretary for many years. I also worked at the pottery in the mid 60’s and the salesroom later on. Thx, Cary
Answer: Hi Cary, quite the family history!! They sell for around 500 or so, althought this one may be a second, or an oddball. the red glaze isn’t finished across the Hamm’s. I don’t know of any production numbers on these, other than they are quite collectible. I would contact the society, they have more contact information that I do. thanks, steve n rose
