Lid with a star, salt glaze

Question:
I have a lid with a five point star around the handle and was told it was Red Wing. There are no markings. The outside diameter measures 9 1/2 inches. It has an inside lip that measures 7 inches. The outside seems to be glazed but the inside isn’t. I would just like to know if this was a lid made by Red Wing. If it was, could you tell me the approximate age? Thank you.

Red Wing Vase 1077

MY MOM HAS A PINK VASE STAMPED RED WING USA WITH THE NUMBER 1077 ON IT. I WAS WONDERING WHAT IT WAS WORTH OR JUST MORE INFO ON THE PIECE. THANKS NANCY PRICE

Answer: Hi Nancy, It dates from 1941, the glaze is called luster rachelle. It has a value of about 35-40.00. hope this helps, thanks, steve n rose

Chef Pierre Cookie Jar

Question:
My 89 year-old mother inherited from her aunt a Red Wing cookie jar which she first saw at her aunt’s home in Atlanta in 1936, when she was 18. The piece depicts an overweight chef, and has a lid. "Red Wing USA" appears on the bottom. All is glazed. The basic color is yellow and it measures 10/11 inches high. I can make a picture of it with my camera but do not have one at this moment. Albany Slip Cow & Calf

Question:
In visiting your site I see where the Albany slip Cow & Calf sold for $8400 at the 2007 auction. Why did that particular piece reach that price when we’ve seen other similar pieces sell for in the $300 – $800 range, of course depending on condition. I assume it was in mint condition and must have had a signed base. Did it have exceptional provenance or what made it unique. Many thanks, AL B.
