Red Wing Lunch hour piece
Question:
Hi guys I have this really neat Red Wing ashtray marked RED WING USA on the bottom. I believe ths to possibly be a noon hour piece or some form of experimental? The ashtray measures 6 5/8" across. As you can see in the photos it almost loks as if the mold was taken home a kid did the art work and then dad or mom took it back and glazed it over. The glaze seems to be a bit poor and not professionally done. Also inside the ship is the number 109 and it has on the front BROCK 6 1/2 years. Any ideas please let me know.
Answer: It is a Red Wing shape, although the number escapes me at the moment, from the mid-sixties. Think you are correct, it is child art. maybe for PT 109, JFK’S boat, I can’t say for sure. Usually the "noon hour" pieces have a glaze just like factory items. you might try some acetone to see if it indeed fired on. it is an unusual item, none the less. some collectors specialize in these pieces, if it is glazed, I would guess the value at around 300.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
Merrileaf Dinnerware — DUPLICATE QUESTION
Question:
I recently picked up a box of Merrileaf at a flea market. While I am sure it has some small worth, that is not my question. My question is: Can you tell me who the designer is? I thought it might be Charles Murphy. I would love to know who the designer is, and what his/her inspiration was, how the pattern was received when released, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I really love this pattern. Thanks, Dawn

Bean pot with advertising
Question:
Hello. I bought this yesterday on eBay. The seller said it may be Red Wing. I’ve never heard of Red Wing before yesterday, and I’m just curious about it. The advertising is for my great-grandfather’s dairy, so the personal value won’t change. There are chips around the top and the lid is missing. The picture of the bottom didn’t have any Red Wing markings, which is why the seller wasn’t sure about it. Here is the eBay page URL: http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Wing-Stoneware-Dairy-Advertising-Menasha-Neenah-WI_W0QQitemZ200176401996QQihZ010QQcategoryZ455QQcmdZViewItem Thank you!

Red Wing 769
Question:
I have found what appears to be a serving dish of some kind but may be something totally different too. It’s a green dish with roughly 1" tall sides that have a scalloped edge. The length is about 11" and the width varies from 6 or 7" in the center down to about 4" on the ends. It is stamped on the bottom with Red Wing #769 on the bottom. Any info would be very helpful.
Answer: It is listed as a piece of Red Wing artware, circa 1962. Kind of a console bowl. The glaze is most likely cypress green, and it has a value of around 20.00. thanks, steve n rose
Magnolia Pitcher
Question:
I recently acquired a magnolia pitcher #1012 in a blue glaze with a Red Wing Art Potery sticker on it. I did not realize the magnolia line was glazed in blue. Can you give me an idea of the value. Thanks
Answer: Hi, the Magnolia line was done in a few other glazes, Oxblood, blue, antiqued green and black as well. Not as common as the ivory antiqued with brown. It has a value of around 45.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
