Red Wing 508

Question:
Hello, I have a small pottery pot with the following raised label on the bottom: Red Wing USA. 508 It is 9 inches in diameter and 6 1/2 inches high. The inside of the pot is cream colored and the outside is tan color with what I view as a raised basket weave design. For example, the bottom third has raised rings, the middle portion has various sized groupings of vertical, horizontal, and square raised patterns. The top portion has more rings. It’s a pretty little pot my mother had given me and am wondering if you happen to know by the description if it is really red wing pottery and if so, when was made. Thanks! Mary Burke

Answer: Mary, It is a Red Wing item. It was designed in 1962, this one may be a little later. The glaze sounds like cocoa brown. There were 3 sizes, with this being the smallest. Value is around 30.00. thanks, steve n rose

Red Wing Stoneware Milk Pan

Question:
I am hoping you will have some information about a bowl I have. It appears to be a very early Red Wing Stoneware Co. brown crockery glazed bowl. The entire bowl is glazed crock brown with an unglazed rim & edge under the band as shown. It is 7 1/2" across at the top, 4" high. There is a pontil mark in the centre inside of bowl. Glazed bottom rim has 3 indentations. It is in great shape except for one small chip on the bottom as shown in the picture. The only mark is RWSCo hand etched into the bottom under the glaze. I have searched the web for years and never found one quite like it. Thanks for your help!
