Red Wing 776

Question:
I’ve come across this Redwing vase and would like to know something about it, whether it is vintage or newer and maybe what the value might be. It is in excellent condition, a satiny white glaze outside and glossy sea-green inside, it’s just over 12" tall and has an embossed woman figure on a swing with a cherub on each side of her. Marked on the bottom is Redwing USA 776. Thanks for your help!

Answer: It is indeed vintage, circa 1962. There is also a matching one in reverse. It is a nice shape, and has a value of 100.00 or so. Nice find. thanks, steve n rose

10 gallon birch leaf Ice Water Cooler

Question:
Hi, I would like to know all the info you can give me on this peice of red wing pottery. It is a 10 gallon crock, with a number 10 on it in blue. Below the number 10 is written out "ice water". Below that is two birch leaves. Below that is a oval stamp. On the inside it reads Red Wing, Union Stoneware co., Red wing-Minn. All written in blue. Crock measure 18 inches tall by 15 inches in diameter. In great shape except for two hairline cracks in the bottom and one on the side, about 1 inch long. No cracks go through the piece. Took it a guy that auctions off antiques, he pecked the side and said it has a nice ring to it and said that means that no cracks go through the piece. Has 3/4 inch hole for wood spigot, which I have also. Also list on ebay now, if you want to look it up. Please email me back and tell me what you think the vales is. Thank you for your time and have a nice day. Brian

Stoneware Novice

Question:
Hello, I recently started collecting red wing crocks. I don’t know much about them other than I like the looks of them. I have recently aquired a #4 gal. red wing crock with wire handles, a 4" wing, stamped Dec. 21, 1915, and in mint condition, also a #5 gal. red wing crock with wire handles (one of which the wire is broken) a 4" wing, and stamped Dec. 15, 1915, and also a #20 gal red wing crock with a 6" wing, it is cracked half way around and has a few chips that are not very big (about the size of a dime). I also got a #6 gal crock with a blue crown with the nubmer 6 inside the crown. The crown is about 4" across. I am sure that this is not a red wing but was curious as to what it is. I am wondering what the values are on these pieces and wondering if you have any insight what are the best crocks to be collecting. I like them all but if I run across one that I am unsure about if I should consider getting it because it is worth something. Like I said I am fairly new at this and only started because I came across one and was mesmerized by it. I would greatly appreciate any help that you have to offer. Thank you, Laura

Cow Waters

Question:
I found a pair of these cow waters. I had never seen them before and thought they were interesting. They still have the mounting hardware and drain cork. The guy told me he thought that Red Wing may have had this company ‘IDEAL EQUIPMENT CO.’ manufacture these for them. Do you know if there is any truth to this. Is there much of a value to these? Thank You Darrell

4 gallon wing jug

Question:
I have read that 4 gal. jugs are harder to find, but is it also unusual to have the 4 on the top as opposed to the side of the jug. Also, this does not have the blue oval, but the wing is 4.5 inches. There are no visible cracks that I could see. Do either one of these details make it more valuable? Thank You Darrell
