Red Wing 909 or 606

Question:
Hello~ Can anyone tell me about this Red Wing item? It stands almost 5" high. Is marked on the bottom in raised letters RED WING USA and then either 909 or 606. Also hand engraved is the name VIVIAN. I haven’t been able to find any info about it. Year? Value? name? Thank you!!! Kevin

Answer: Kevin, This piece is a 909, garden line, I believe, circa 1965. The pic is pretty small, but I think this is a "hobby shop" piece. Lots of molds were taken from Red Wing after it closed in 1967, and various places glazed and decorated them. Hence the name and odd glaze color. Value is around 20.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose

Just wondering what the worth would be for a 20-gallon salt-glazed butterfly in 9/10 condition. Also, what would be the worth of the same crock that has a hairline going through the crock top to bottom?

Spittoon

Question:
I have a spittoon which looks exactly like the one in Warmans 2005 Redwing Pottery ID & Price guide. Page 50 It looks like the brown one on the left. 4 3/4 hi 7 1/2 across top. The glaze looks like its poured on not brushed on.Its a very dark chocolate brown with slight variarions. There is one spot that looks like finger prints from whoever held it while glazing. There is a #8 embossed on the bottom, not indented but standing out. Is it a Northstar spittoon? Can you tell from my description. The book lists it at $150+? Thanks, Laurie
