Teapot

Question: {mosimage}
We bought some Red Wing Bob White dishes over 10 years ago & this small teapot was included. It has no marking on the bottom. The glaze is identical to the pattern. It is about 4" tall & almost 13" around. But as you can see is void of decoration. Could you please tell me if it belongs to this group & a value? The piece is in great condition. Thanks for your time & help. Pat

Answer:
Pat, Only the top half of your teapot photo came through, so I can’t view the bottom portion of the teapot. I am not familiar with this teapot, and don’t think it was made by Red Wing. The glaze certainly resembles Red Wing’s beige fleck glaze but the specks don’t seem look right — they are too broad. This the teapot isn’t part of the Bob White pattern, nor is it from any other Red Wing dinnerware pattern. While it certainly has the Red Wing look, I don’t believe this teapot was made by Red Wing. Thanks, Larry

Fondoso Pattern

Question:
I would like the estimated value of a pink 64 oz. jug in the Fondoso pattern. Thank you, Danny

Answer:
Danny, Red Wing did not make a pink 64 oz jug in the Fondoso pattern, so I’m not sure just which piece you have. Most likely you have 70oz "Straight" pitcher or a 70oz "Tilt" pitcher. Both pitchers have an ice stop. The ice stop on the Tilt pitcher is offset or "tilted" at a downward angle, while the Straight pitcher is vertically oriented and has the ice stop at the top of the pitcher. Values for both styles are about the same — a pink 70 oz Fondoso pitcher would be worth $50 to $75 in excellent condition. Thanks, Larry

Five Gallon Salt glazed beehive

Question: {mosimage}
Was wondering about this piece. Please let me know about any information you have. Thank you. Randy

Answer:
Randy, the photo you send me is not complete. However, from what I can see, it looks like a 5 gallon salt glazed beehive. I don’t think it is Red Wing do to the shape of the jug and decoration. I do believe it is Midwestern, but this is about the best I can tell. Sorry I wasn’t of more help. Al Kohlman

Ten Gallon Redwing Crock

Question:
I have a redwing patent 1912, 10 gal vase (its big and heavy). Is there an estimated value of this item? Thanks, Krystal

Answer:
Krystal, you have a 10 gallon Red Wing crock, the patent date should read, Dec 21, 1915. If the crock is free of all chips, cracks and hairlines you can go with my estimates. Any damage as mentioned above will reduce the value. Now these crocks were manufactured with three wing sizes. A six, four & a 2 inch wing the larger the wing the greater the value. With all this being said on condition and wing size, your 10 gallon crock has a value range of $75 to $150. Al Kohlman

One Gallon Jug with Beehive

Question:
One gallon jug, dark brown glaze, beehive style. Approx. 1" opening on the top, with loop handle. Raised letters on the bottom that say, Minnesota Stoneware Co along the top, and Red Wing along the bottom. Found on the farm of my mother-in-law’s mother. What would you estimate the value to be? Is it a rare piece? What time period was it made? Thank you for any help you can give. Thanks Terry

Answer:
Terry, your 1 gallon Minnesota "Common " Brown jug was manufactured by the Minnesota Stoneware Company from 1895 to early 1900’s. They are not considered rare as they are fairly easy to find. The value is between $65 & $95. Excellent condition and a strong bottom mark is what collectors are looking for. Al Kohlman
