I have attatched two photos of a jug that I found in someone’s basement. Can you tell me if this is a Red Wing, and an approxamite value? There does not appear to be any noticeable chips or cracks, and it looks like the original cork is still in it.
Yes, this a Red Wing Stoneware 3 gallon beehive jug. With just the #3 and no advertising or decoration, the value is around $200. al
Hi I am 13 years old and an avid collector of antiques. My grandmother recently passed away and left me this crock in her will. I have been doing some checking on the internet and I believe it is an August Sandberg crock. Do you have any idea what it is worth considering that Mr. Sandberg is considered “one of the Clay Giants”
Please get back to me with a ballpark estimate on what it’s worth it will be greatly appreciated
Thanks Have a good Day

Eli, always nice to hear from a young collector and someone who is willing to do a little research on a nice find such as this one. Now, on the August Sandburg (S/A) salt glazed crock. There are a number of collectors who are not sure that these S/A crocks are Red Wing or from another Mid-west stoneware company. However, either way they are sought after by Red Wing collectors. If your grandmother’s S/A crock is in perfect condition, the value is between $275 & $300. Good luck and have fun with your collecting. You have a nice piece of salt glaze here. Al Kohlman
Red Wing 10 gallon elephant ear ice water what is the value of this piece. thanks and i am excited to hear back.. cody
Answer: It’s a nice Ice Water that is for sure. With the ecomony being so bad, and the chip on the side rim I would think $3000 to $4000 on this 10 gallon elephant ear ice water. Also, if that lid is an vinage 8 gallon Red Wing button crock lid, than that is the correct lid for this Ice Water. Good luck on your sale. al
I have a 15 gallon crock (currently in storage) which I used for years to make saurkraut. I never have had a lid for it.
The crock is in very good condition with no chips or cracks other than the flaws in manufacture. All the lettering and the wing is distinct. If a picture is needed I can have it in a couple days.
Due to downsizing the crock must go. I am looking for a ballpark price for which to ask.
A 15 gallon Red Wing crock in perfect condition has a value between $175 & $200. al
Hi, we have a piece of Red Wing pottery that we are considering selling. It has been in my husbands family for many years. It is in pristine condition.
Could you give us an idea of what this is worth, we are considering putting it on eBay.
The bowl is 3 3/8 inches tall, and is 4 5/8 across at the top.
The cover is lipped, and is 4 3/4 inches across.
With the cover on, the piece is 3 3/4 inches high.
There are 2 markings on the bottom of the bowl. One that looks like a stamp says Made in Red Wing.
There is also an indentation that says 4 1/2.
There are many little holes that appear to be part of the glazing process.
There is one very small rough spot on the inside of the cover, but doesn’t appear to be a chip, again, maybe part of the glazing process.
The other markings are the ‘spongewear’ band around the top of the ribbed bowl and around the top of the cover.
Primary colors for the ‘spongewear’ markings are blue and a rust color.
This is a stacking Gray Line refrigerator jar. In perfect condition (which it sounds like it is), the value is between $600 & $800 today. al
What can you tell me about this crock with the 4 and Red Wing on it? Thanks Kenny

Could you tell me about this crock? No chips or cracks.

I just picked up this 6 Gallon Water cooler the other day, I do not see any chips or cracks in the cooler. I was just wondering the approximate value and if the 4 Inch wings hold a higher value than the 2 inch ones?
Brett, the 4 inch wing does hold a higher value on all Red Wing pieces than the 2 inch wing. The 6 gallon Red Wing water cooler has a value between $400 & $450. Al
Question: Hello: We have an 8 gallon Red Wing crock with a lid. It has a patent date of what appears to be Dec 21, 1915; marked Red Wing Union Stoneware Co., Red Wing, MN; and also has a red wing mark. It is in near perfect condition. Would be interested knowing the estimated value.
We also have a two tone (brown/gray) crock with the only discernable marking of a 5. This is in good condition – no chips. Would be interested to know if it is a Red Wing crock and the estimated value.
lets break this all down. The 8 gallon Red Wing lid has a value between $175 & $200. The 8 gallon Red Wing crock $150. The two tone crock is not Red Wing so no idea of value. Al
