Fort Dodge Iowa/RedWing Crock – 10 gallon
Question:
I believe this is a Fort Dodge Iowa/ Red Wing crock. It has the Fort Dodge gallon mark and Red Wing birch leaf mark. It has no damage or repairs of any kind. It measures 16 inches tall by 16 inch diam. Can you give me an idea of it’s desirability, and current market value. Was it made in the early 1900’s? Thanks so much for any thoughts, I really appreciate this site and use it to reference other pieces I have collected. Jason

4 gallon large wing churn
Question:
Hi Al, Can you give me an approximate value on this 4 gallon butter churn. There is a chip/gouge (2”x1”) on the right side and a 4” hair line crack on the left side that goes thru to the inside. With the damage on the side, the churn still displays nicely though. The lid has just has two very tiny chips on the underside by the dasher hole. If I were to sell this, would it be better to sell the lid separately from the churn? Thanks, Chris

Value difference between full ridge and cap bowls
Question:
I recently bought a 7 inch sponge bowl thinking it was a simple cap bowl. Turns out it is a full ridges bowl and the price guide says $400-500 with lid (which I don’t have). Why are the full ridges so much higher in value? Thanks. Chuck

Saffron Ware double blue band bowl
Question:
I have a huge Red Wing bowl (12 inch diameter and 6 3/8 inches deep. As you can see it is a double blue band. It is yellow… I see some 5 inch bowls and saffron bowls in the price guides but none exactly like this. It is in very good condition but there is what I would call an age line about 1 inch off the bottom, it is both on interior and exterior but no damage to indicate it is a crack. Can you tell me what the value is? Thanks. Chuck

question5 gallon salt glaze leaf crock and 6 gallon small wing crock
Question:
Hi: There are two crocks (photo attached). The ‘5’ crock is 13-inches tall…not a mark or crack on it…looks like new to me! I think it shouldn’t have the lid on it. The ‘6’ is 15-inches tall…3-inch hairline crack near the base on the back…otherwise perfect…has wire-and-black wood handles. Here’s what I know for sure: We used to make root beer in them at Grandma and Grandpa’s house! Now, it’s time for them to find a new home. What’s their manufacturing history and approximate values? Many Thanks, Willie Gig Harbor, WA

8 gallon salt-glazed water cooler straigh side?
Question:
Al – Did Red Wing ever make Water Coolers "other than" the standard hour-glass shaped ones that Red Wing produced for water coolers and ice waters. I have a chance to purchase an 8-gallon, Salt-glazed water cooler shaped like a standard stoneware crock. It is taller and slimmer than a typical 8-gallon crock, and is flawless and undamaged. It has a beautiful cobalt 8, with cobalt tornado design below it. It has the typical spigot hole, flush with the crock surface. It is not signed, and thus no tell-tale Red Wing markings. It has two side handles like a typical crock, which appear to be the typical Red Wing shape, and are about 5" in width. So did Red Wing ever make anything like this? Thanks. Chris
