I have found this dog and am wondering what the value of it would be and if its even redwing? I looks to me that it is identical to a dog in "Redwing Potters and Their Wares" page 13. It is glazed with a heavy albany slip. Any info will help. Its the bigger one in the picture. Thanks Drew

6 gallon crock with setincel markings

Question:
This churn has been in my wife’s family possibly since it was new. We just recieved it from my Mother-in-law. I collect RedWing, and have been quite puzzled by the mark on it. There is no marking identifying the maker- but i’m sure that it is Redwing. Looks like the 6 and marks around it could possibly be a stencil. It is in excellent shape, only one little chip where the lid fits in. We do not have the lid however. It is salt glaze, with a few very lt. dropping marks. A value and any info. would be greatly appreciated. It is 17.5" tall, 9.5" where the lid fits in and about 12" wide. Thanks so much- Dean

Answer: Dean,  In my opinion the churn was made by a mid-western potter—possible one in Illinois.   It is a nice piece of early salt glazed and I would put the value around $300. Jeff

Hello, me again! I also have this St. Patties Day mug – Do you happen to know of any collectors who might be interested? I want them to have good homes. Thank you! Maren

Set of Hamm’s Krug Klub mugs

Question:
Hello, I have a set of 4 Krug Klub Mugs made by Red Wing. Can you tell me a little about them? I would love to actually pass them along to a collector who would love to have them in their collection! Thank you! Maren

Answer: Maren, These mugs were made in the 1950’s.  The Hamm’s brewing company commissioned Red Wing Potteries to make two different sized.  The 2008 book value on these is around $100 per mug, but in today’s market I feel the $60 to $75 is a more realistic value. Jeff

Salt and Pepper Combo shaker

Question:
Is this spongeware salt n pepper combo RW? It is marked on the bottom but I just can’t make it out. If so, how rare and value. Thank you for your time. Your site is great for reference and history info. Margaret

Answer: Margaret, This item is not Red Wing.  It is certainly a nice old salt and pepper set.  A 2005 stoneware book edited by Kyle Husfloen places the value at $150.  I think the value is a bit high—they are not all that rare.  I have purchased some in past years for $50 to $60.I have a few of these in my collection, but cannot make out what the writing is on the bottom either. 50-gallon red wing crock with spigot

Question:
I have a 50-gallong red wing crock and great condition. The question I have is that it has a spigot on it. "Did it come from the manufacture with the spigot on it, or was this post-manufacture added?" I do not know if it could be worth more or less, because of the spigot? Lynn
