4 gallon Red Wing salt glazed crock with Albany slip lining

Question:
I have a 4 gallon Red Wing salt glazed crock with Albany slip lining and molded handles. The orange peel surface on the outside is a very pleasing darkish tan color. The cobalt markings are called the bee sting design I think. Below the number the design is a spiral with a trailing line going vertically downward. No cracks, chips, stains or other damage. No marking on bottom. What is the age and value of this crock? This is a pretty crock. Sorry I do not have a picture for you. Gail

Answer: Gail, your description or your 4 gallon salt glazed crock and it’s bee sting design is a very common crock and was produced by all the mid-western stoneware companies. So without seeing a photo of it, I cannot know for sure if it is Red Wing or belongs to another company. For this reason, I just cannot give an approximate value. Sorry. Al Kohlman
