Hi: There are two crocks (photo attached). The ‘5’ crock is 13-inches tall…not a mark or crack on it…looks like new to me! I think it shouldn’t have the lid on it. The ‘6’ is 15-inches tall…3-inch hairline crack near the base on the back…otherwise perfect…has wire-and-black wood handles. Here’s what I know for sure: We used to make root beer in them at Grandma and Grandpa’s house! Now, it’s time for them to find a new home. What’s their manufacturing history and approximate values? Answer: Willie, your 5 gallon Red Wing salt glazed leaf crock should not have that lid. The lid belongs to the zinc (gray) glazed crocks. Your leaf crock was produced between 1867 & 1895. Value today is $300 to $400. The lid has a value around $50 (I see a chip on the edge and the top is a little brown). The 6 gallon Red Wing crock was produced between 1936 & 1947.
