Question:
Hi – I have a 2 gallon Redwing water cooler, small wing, 2 on the front, handles, with the lid, all in excellent condition no cracks, chips, or repairs. I see in the reference books/price guides that the the ones with no handles with the 2 marked on the inside bottom are quite valuable – they also say that all 2 gallon water coolers are rare – does mine carry the same value as the no handle style? Thanks Dennis
Answer: Dennis, you have a nice 2 gallon Red Wing Water Cooler which was made between 1936 & 1947. Your 2 gallon cooler is harder to come by than the 3, 4, 5, & 6 gallon sizes, plus the lid is a real tough cookie to find in mint condition. However, it doesn’t come close to the value of the early hand turned 2 gallon water cooler with the 2 inside on the bottom and 4 1/2 inch wing. Your cooler with the little blemish on the side will have a value between $1000 & $1500 in today’s markets. Al Kohlman
