Question:
We have a set (10,8,5,3 gal) of Red Wing Crocks (possibly for pickles), that we purchased from an antique store about 20 years ago, and would like to get a possible value of the set. The largest is a 10 gallon. It has handles, a 2" Wing and Blue Company Emblem that states Union Stoneware Co., RedWing.Minn. It also has a marking of a Patented Dec 21, 1915 date on the side. Next is the 8 gallon, no handles, 6" Wing, and same Company emblem. Next is the 5 gal, with handles and a 4" wing, Company emblem and this also has the Patented Dec 21, 1915 date on the side. Last is the 3 gallon, no handles, 4" Wing, and same Company emblem. They are all in very good condition, although the 10 gall is cracked on the bottom. So what do you think? Thank you in advance.
Answer: Your 8 gallon Red Wing crock is the nicest. In mint condition around $150. The 10 gallon which is cracked and a later crock will have a value around $30 to $50 depending on the size of crack. The 5 gallon with the 4 1/2" wing sells in the area of $50 to $75 while the 3 gallon sells around $40 to $50. Al Kohlman
