Hello I have this crock and I was wondering if you could tell me something about it? It is a number 25 birchleaf and has the Union Stoneware Red Wing Minn oval. But this one has a hole for what looks like a spigot, could you give me any information on it? Thank you Mike

Answer: Mike your 25 gallon crock was manufactured by the Minnesota Stoneware Company sometime between 1897 to 1906. The bung hole was used on a number of the larger crocks us assist with draining as they were quite heavy to empty when full of liquid. Also, it may have been used in a number of different operations ex; such as a hardware store and used to dispense window cleaner. Al Kohlman
