Question:
I’ve not been able to find a pitcher like this one. It has a wood handle and I’m wonder if it was for milk? Do you have an idea of the approximate value? It’s about 8.5 tall including the cover. I also have a pitcher with cover that is simalar but not a wood handle? It’s about 9 inches tall. Dindy
Answer: The 9 inch item shown in the photo is a Fondoso Batter Pitcher in the pastel blue color. A 6 inch syrup jug in the same shape was also made Also available was a Batter Pitcher Tray which was made to hold the batter pitcher and syrup jug. In excellent condition a Fondoso batter pitcher with cover is worth $50-60.
I do not see a photo of the pitcher with the wood handle. If the design is similar to the batter pitcher seen here, then it is a Fondoso coffee server with wood handle. (A Fondoso coffee pot with pottery handle was also made). Value for a Fondoso coffee server with cover and wood handle is also $50-60 in excellent condition. Red Wing also made one other coffee server with a wood handle. It was made in the same era but is round and bulbous with a relatively narrow opening and marked "565" on the bottom (no Red Wing name). The 565 coffee server is much more common than the Fondoso coffee server and it was made in many colors. Except for certain scarce colors, most 565 coffee servers are worth considerably less than the Fondoso server.
