Flight Dinnerware Bowl

Question:
I have one bowl remaining from a set my parents had in the 1960’s and would like to know an aproximate value. Dad was a salesman for Red Wing and had the whole dinner set, but unfortunately the other pieces were given away years ago. I found this one in a box in the attic. I don\’t think the picture of the top side came through, so here is another try.

Answer: Ouch! Too bad your family didn’t hang on to the rest of the pieces because this is one of the most popular and valuable of Red Wing’s many dinnerware patterns. Flight is the name, and it was introduced in 1962. While not so rare as believed in the early years of Red Wing collecting, Flight is still a scarce pattern. Demand definitely is greater than the supply.

The Flight pattern has four different sized bowls, and from your photo and description I cannot determine which bowl you have. The sides appear to be too shallow to be the large 10 inch salad bowl, which would be worth $100 to $150 or more. But it could a sauce dish, cereal bowl or vegetable dish. The value would be from $40 to over $100 depending on the size of the bowl. These values assume excellent condition.
