Convention at a Glance

The RWCS Convention starts officially on Thursday of Convention Week. However, there are many events and activities going on in Red Wing before the Red Wing High School Convention site opens!

Monday/Tuesday: The first day of the week that sellers begin to set up their booths at the Pottery Place Mallas well as many locals also set up tables in their driveways and garages all around Red Wing. With these sales open the hunt begins! In addition to this their may even be an auction in or in a neighboring community to Red Wing.

Wednesday- RWCS Foundation Day:
The hunt at the antique shops, garage sales, auction, street sales continues. Chapters start to gather and members ready for the first day of Convention.

The Official RWCS Convention Supplement is include in the Red Wing Republican Eagle Newspaper. Pick up a copy in the paper or at the RWCS members tent at Pottery Place Annex. This is the best information source for all Convention activities.

Wednesday is also RWCS Foundation Day. The RWCS Foundation hosts a food booth in The Pottery Place Mall parking lot at 2000 Old West Main Street. In addition, Pre-Registered RWCS Convention Attendees can pick up their attendee packets and badges abject to the food booth.

That evening the RWCS Foundation Hosts a Wine and Cheese fundraiser in the Red Wing Pottery Museum located in the Pottery Place mall.

Thursday – Convention Opens & Auction: The first full day of Convention activities at the Red Wing High School. The schedule begins with unveiling of the Annual Convention Commemorative, followed by the Opening Welcome and the Keynote Speaker, and then the Members Only Auction. During the Auction is the first opportunity for members to view the Displays and Rare Items being shown at the Convention by members. In addition this is the first day of Kids View (education program for our younger members), Chapter Meetings, and Orientation for First Timers to Convention.

2013 Special Events at Red Wing High School
Hands on Class, Day 1 
- Attendees may pre-register for this hands on pottery experience with Richard Spiller. This is your opportunity to learn pottery techniques. Several sessions are available and limited slots are scheduled. There is an additional registration fee for this session.

2:30 pm – Shared Interest Groups – Come to the Courtyard Cafe’ and share your favorite piece, talk with members who share your collecting interest area, swap stories, share information. There will be groups for stoneware, dinnerware, and art pottery.

Friday – Education and Crock Fest:

The jam packed Education Sessions open to all members registered for Convention. More then 15-25 sessions for attendees to choose from. There is not only education for adult attendees but Kids View continues. In addition, to the wonderful Education Sessions the members have the opportunity to see pottery demonstrations, participate in the People’s Choice Judging for the Displays and Rare items.

Crock Fest – Friday night, Central Park
5:00 – 9:00 pm Red Wing Central Park

The 2013 Crock Fest will be co-hosted by Red Wing Arts Association. A fun-filled evening for everyone including music, food, and fun. Kids activities include rood beer floats, face painting, and clay modeling. Music provided by The Cruisers.

Saturday: Show and Sale

The last day of Convention and the high school gym filled with over 150 seller’s tables of all kinds of Red Wing Pottery. In addition, to the Show & Sale there is the Commemorative Lottery for all pre-registered attendees. Convention Week ends with a relaxing banquet.

2013 Events: Convention Open to Visitors!

8:00 – Noon Displays of Red Wing: Stoneware, Dinnerware, Art Pottery and Rare Items open for View

10:30 – 1:30 SHOW AND SALE OPEN TO PUBLIC – Over 150 tables selling Red Wing Stoneware, Dinnerware, Art Pottery and city Memorabilia. KWNG will be broadcasting live at the show. Everyone Welcome! Come Register to win RWCS membership for one year.

5:30pm Banquet Celebration, Provenzano’s Ristorante
This event will include the wrap up photo slide show, door prizes and a live auction.
