Red Wing Shape, hobby shop piece

Question:
I have a Red Wing Vase measuring 12 1/4" at the top of the Higher of the two lips. It is a pea green in color with Orange specks throughout. No cracks, chips ect…It does have glazing cracks that are within the glaze itself. The bottom reads Red Wing and the number is 810 or 818 or even 816, I cannot tell for sure as orange specks go across the last number and It is hard to read. Lisa

Answer: Hi Lisa

this is a Red Wing shape, from the 60′s, but it’s a "hobby shop" piece. That means it was done by someone other than Red Wing. The glaze isn’t correct. The plant closed in 1967, molds were sold off. Some molds were used by other companies, with different glazes. thanks, steve n rose

Hi, I really appreciate your being available to answer questions. I found this water cooler at a New Jersey flea market and have been told it’s possibly Red Wing, but haven’t been able to find anything that looks like it, not only on your site but anywhere else. It’s about a 2 gallon cooler, lid missing, color: aqua or light green. If you recognize this, any information would be much appreciated. Thank you, Jean

Basket weave bowl, 916

Question:
I have this brown bowl that I have been able to find nothing on. It has the design of a basket weave and it has a strange shape, almost like someone grabbed the top of it and squeezed. There are some definite flaws on it that looks as though something happened during the firing process. Almost like the bowl touched the inside wall of the kiln. It measures 8x6x4.5. The bottom says Red Wing U.S.A 916. Can you tell me about this piece, along with the value? Thanks so much! Melody

Answer: Hi Melody

this shape does have a pinched in top, that’s normal. It’s from 1965. Value is around 25.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
